BNP seeks police protection for Khaleda Zia
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has sought police protection for its chairperson Khaleda Zia, who has been passing days in home quarantine since her release on March 25.
The party chairperson’s private secretary, ABM Abdus Sattar, sent a letter to the inspector general of police on March 25 seeking appoint of adequate number of armed police and a gunman from the Special Branch at her Gulshan house in Dhaka for her security, BNP chairperson’s press wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan told New Age.
He said that copies of the letter were also forwarded to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner and additional IGP (special branch).
Sattar said that they were yet to get any response from the police authorities.
Khaleda, who had been in jail since February 8, 2018, the day she was jailed for five years by a Dhaka special court in a graft case, was released for six months on executive order. (Source: New Age)
