Sangshad TV to broadcast class lessons from Sunday

Class lessons for Class VI to Class X are going to be broadcasted by the Sangshad Television from Sunday between 9:00am and 9:000pm during the ongoing holidays announced as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus  (COVID-19), said education ministry officials.

These lessons would be delivered by some renowned teachers from schools in the capital through recorded videos while students will have to do home works, they said.

The primary and mass education ministry also prepared a list of teachers for taking such classes for students of pre-primary to Class V, the ministry officials added.

The government closed all educational institutions and coaching centres from the pre-primary level to the tertiary level till April 9 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Seven classes on seven different subjects will be aired daily for Class VI to Class X and each of the classes will continue for 20 minutes between Sunday to Thursday, officials said.

Around four crore students are studying from pre-primary level to tertiary level in the country including around 1.73 crore in primary and around one crore in secondary levels.

Secondary and Higher Education Division secretary Mahbub Hossain told New Age on Friday that the initiative was taken to teach students at home during the prevailing situation.

‘Our best teachers will teach students through recorded videos and then give students home works,’ he said, adding, ‘The students have to show these home works at schools when the schools will open.’

Mahbub also said that they were preparing a guideline for teachers to examine these home works.

Md Fasiullah, director general of Directorate of Primary Education, said that they had already prepared a list of best teachers across the country.

They would record their lessons and broadcast their lessons by Sangshad TV if necessary, he added.

On March 22, the authorities also suspended this year’s upcoming Higher Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations.

Same day Bangladesh Public Service Commission also postponed all its examinations between March 18 and March 31.
