Agrani Bank, bKash to send stipend

Education minister Dipu Moni inaugurated the distribution of over Tk 292 crore to about 1 million students across the country as stipend through mobile banking.

She talked with the students of two schools of Haimchar and Babuganj upazilas through video conferencing at Shikkha Bhaban in Dhaka and then inaugurated the stipend distribution.

The money will be deposited at the bKash accounts of the guardians of the 9,91,582

students of 10350 schools of 226 upazilas. Agrani Bank will serve as partner in the disbursement process.

Dipu Moni said the stipend will go direct to the beneficiaries from now without any middlemen.

Deputy education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury was present on the occasion.

Secondary and higher education secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, director general of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Syed Md Golam Faruk, CEO of bKash Kamal Quadir, managing director of Agrani Bank Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam, additional secretary Md Fazlur Rahman were also present at the programme.
