Dhaka University forms committee to develop virus test lab

Dhaka University on Saturday formed a coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic response committee to put together a team of experts to run a specialised laboratory for developing coronavirus detection kits.

The laboratory will help develop testing kits for other viruses in future also, said a press release.

The committee included four members from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Department of Bio Chemistry and Molecular Biology, and Department of Microbiology.

The press release said that the laboratory could be replicated elsewhere in the country with their technical assistance.

The committee was formed at a meeting with vice-chancellor professor Akhtaruzzaman in the chair. (Source: New Age)
