Bangladesh Bank assures considering LDA demands for saving banking sector

The Bangladesh Bank authorities on Wednesday assured the Left Democratic Alliance leaders to consider their demands of the alliance to save the banking sector of the country from the hands of destruction, LDA leaders said.

The LDA held a lay seize programme on Wednesday in demands of steps of central bank to save the banking sector.

Police bared the march in Dainik Bangla intersection at Motijheel and a ten-member delegation led by coordinator of the alliance Bazlur Rashid Firoj handed over the memorandum to the Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir.

The bank spokesman Md Serajul Islam accepted the memorandum on behalf of the governor and appreciated the demands and proposals and gave assurance to consider the proposals to save the banking sector, Bazlur said.

The memorandum included 13-points recommendations including formation of tribunals for the trials and punishments of the bank defaulters, formation of separate ombudsman for banking sector, formation of asset management company for finding bad loans, ratifications of deposit saving law and others.

Communist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Mohammad Shah Alam, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq, Democratic

Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu, among others, were the members of the delegation team.

Serajul, however, could not be reached for comments after several attempts on Thursday. (Source: New Age)
