Five killed in Lakshmipur road accident

At least five persons were killed and two others injured in a collision between an CNG run auto-rickshaw and a Prado jeep at Bottoli Bazar under Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday evening (February 25).

The deceased were identified as Runa Akter, 40, her son Minhaz ,4, Mir Hossain, 7, and Sumon, 25. Identity of another deceased person could not be known immediately. All of them were CNG run auto-rickshaw passengers.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraganj Highway Police Station Md. Ruhul Amin said the accident occurred when the Prado jeep coming from opposite direction collided head-on with the CNG run auto-rickshaw in the area around 7 pm,
leaving seven persons seriously injured.

Locals rescued the injured persons and sent them to Noakhali General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared four persons dead.

Another person succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Later, two injured person were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better treatment, hospital sources said. (Source: BSS)
