Ex-JL leader Khaled indicted in drug case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday indicted the expelled organising secretary of Bangladesh Juba League’s Dhaka south city branch, Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan, in a case under narcotics control act.

Dhaka third additional metropolitan sessions’ judge Rabiul Alam indicted Khaled, rejecting his discharge plea, and set April 1 for beginning his trial through recording testimonies of prosecution witness.

Khaled was in the dock during the hearing.

Rapid Action Battalion filed a charge sheet accusing Khaled of drug dealing on November 17.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Quaish accepted the charge sheet against Khaled and transferred the case to the court of third additional metropolitan sessions’ judge.

RAB-3 arrested Khaled in his Gulshan house on September 18 in 2019 in connection with his involvement in running an illegal casino business at Fakirerpool area in Dhaka.

RAB soldiers also seized illegal weapons, Yaba tablets and a large sum of money during the raid.

Later, he was handed over to the Gulshan police on September 19.

Four cases, including one for carrying illegal arms, one for drug trade and another for laundering money, were filed against Khaled. (Source: New Age)
