Jashore journalist abducted, released
Anisur Rahman, Benapole correspondent of Jashore-based daily Protidiner Katha, was abducted by some miscreants at about 12:00pm on Wednesday and was released later early Thursday.
Jubli Parvin, wife of the journalist, said that Anis went out of his Benapole residence at about 9:00am on Wednesday. His mobile phone was switched off at night. A general diary was lodged with Benapole port police station at about 1:00am on Thursday.
Anisur Rahman said that he was abducted by some miscreants from Chansra area, a gateway of Jashore town, as soon as he got off from a vehicle at about 12:00pm.
The miscreants kept him blindfolded and took him somewhere by a microbus. They also threatened him for publishing report on illegal drug trading, Anis said.
The miscreants, later, released him at Nawapara industrial town early Thursday, he added.
Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole port police station, confirming the information told journalists that a general diary was lodged in this connection. (Source: New Age)
