Khaleda Zia stays in home quarantine
Ailing Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia stayed in home quarantine for second day on Saturday due to present coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
She was released from jail on Wednesday.
Khaleda was put in quarantine under the care of her personal physicians and nurses, said BNP vice-chairman Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the medical board formed for her treatment, told New Age.
He said that all the six members of the medical board met her on Wednesday after she had reached home and the board suggested her to stay in 14-day quarantine considering the health of the 75-year-old leader and her asthmatic problems.
Doctors are frequently visiting her so that she can maintain the quarantine rules properly, said Zahid, also former president of pro-BNP physicians’ organisation Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh.
He said that Khaleda’s eldest daughter-in-law Zubaida Rahman had been coordinating the treatment of her.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan told New Age that that the family gave Zubaida the responsibility of coordinating her treatment.
Zubaida, also a doctor, now stays in London with her husband Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of BNP, party leaders said.
Khaleda, who had been in jail since February 8, 2018, the day she was jailed for five years by a Dhaka special court in a graft case, was released from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Wednesday for six months on executive order. (Source: New Age)
